The Nathan Boone Journal manuscript. 1843.

Boone's journal of his expedition through Oklahoma and Kansas territory from May 14 to July 31, 1843 describes many topographical, geological, and geographical points of interest. He describes the various flora and fauna of the region, the contacts that his expedition had with the Osage Indians, and difficulties that he and his troops encountered on the journey.

Nathan Boone was the youngest child of Daniel Boone, the pioneer of the Kentucky frontier. In 1796, Nathan and his family moved to what is now the state of Missouri. During the War of 1812 he was the Captain of a company of Missouri volunteers. In 1820, Nathan was elected as a delegate to the state constitutional commission.
